EBA Moldova and GIZ Moldova held a mentoring and peer learning session: "Green, resilient, and climate-oriented practices – practical aspects," as part of the #PROGRESS project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection through the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
The workshop was designed as an interactive event for actors in the value chains of nut crops (walnuts, almonds) and stone fruits, with the aim of facilitating the transfer of knowledge and good practices in the field of sustainable agriculture.
Topics covered included adaptation to climate change, use of adapted varieties, soil health conservation, biodiversity protection, and innovations in conservation agriculture.
The event brought together national and international experts from the Republic of Moldova and Romania, providing a valuable framework for exchanging experiences and strengthening cross-sectoral collaborations for farmers in the target group. Participants benefited from the contributions of Romanian farmers, who shared advice from their own experience in the ongoing process of adapting to climate change—such as choosing and testing adapted and climate-resistant varieties, but also using a smart irrigation system adapted to the area, making maximum use of water resources.
